Bevan and Guerrero to Co-Lead Organization in New Dual Executive Leadership Model

mindful MATERIALS (mM), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to aligning the building industry around a common language for sustainable products, is proud to announce Anthony Guerrero as its new Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director.
“This marks a significant milestone in mindful MATERIALS’ evolution—establishing the leadership structure needed to operate as an independent, impact-driven force in sustainable materials,” says Lona Rerick, First Co-Chair, mindful MATERIALS Board of Directors. “With Anthony and Annie at the helm, we’re well-positioned to scale systems alignment and accelerate progress across the industry.”
Anthony brings decades of leadership in mission-driven organizations, including executive roles at Earthjustice and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). He has overseen hybrid workplace strategies, scaled high-performing teams, and launched award-winning sustainability initiatives across national operations. Notably, he served as Chair of the Living Future Board during a pivotal leadership transition.
“I’m honored to join mindful MATERIALS at such a transformational moment—for the organization, and our entire industry,” says Guerrero. “The opportunity to help build a more connected, transparent, and values-driven materials ecosystem aligns with my passion for operational transformation and sustainability. I look forward to working alongside this incredible team and community to accelerate our bold vision into real-world impact.”
As Guerrero joins mindful MATERIALS, Annie Bevan—who has served as CEO since 2021—will transition into the newly created role of Chief Strategy Officer. As planned, the two will share CEO responsibilities in a co-leadership model. With this expanded executive capacity, Bevan will now be able to accelerate mindful MATERIALS’ vision, programming, and industry partnerships globally.
This new leadership model coincides with the upcoming launch of the CMF Implementation Toolkit at Greenbuild 2025—an essential milestone in the organization’s mission to make sustainable materials easier to understand, access, and use across the industry.
“I’m thrilled to double mM’s executive leadership team and to find such a qualified partner to co-manage the mM business,” says Bevan. “Anthony’s operational expertise and systems-level thinking will help accelerate mM’s work. Together, we’ll be expanding the infrastructure of the mM organization to support real, lasting impact into the future.”
