Gensler’s David Briefel and ASSA ABLOY’s Amy Musanti join mM’s Board as industry leaders transition and new officers take the helm.



mindful MATERIALS (mM), the building materials industry’s convener driving sustainable materials solutions for the built environment, announces recent updates to its Board of Directors, including the appointment of new members, the transition of key leaders, and the election of new officers.


Gensler’s David Briefel and ASSA ABLOY’s Amy Musanti join continuing board members ZGF’s Lona Rerick, Skanska’s Myrrh Caplan, Humanscale’s Jane Abernethy, BIFMA’s Steve Kooy, AvalonBay Communities Katie Rothenberg, Grace Farms Foundation’s Nora Rizzo, and BuildingEase’s Barbra Batshalom.


HMTX Industries’ Arthur Clarke, Kingspan’s Brent Trenga, and HKS’ Rand Ekman have concluded their board member terms.


“Art, Brent, and Rand’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the growth and impact of mindful MATERIALS during their tenure with the board, and their legacy will continue to inspire our work,” says Annie Bevan, mM CEO.


Additionally, the organization announces its newly elected Board officers:

  • Rerick and Caplan will serve as First and Second Co-Chairs, respectively, leading the Board in its strategic direction and industry engagement.

  • Abernethy has been appointed Secretary, supporting governance and operational effectiveness.

  • Kooy will serve as Treasurer, overseeing financial stewardship to sustain and grow mindful MATERIALS’ impact.
